WHAT IS "MOONSHOT MILLION:"

The Moonshot Moment Million Pages Campaign is a free and easy way for Indian River County, Florida readers of all ages to support the Moonshot Moment and to prove that we ARE the literacy capital of the nation!  

Readers of all ages will go online to www.moonshotmoment.org/million to log the number of pages they read, to see how quickly our community can read "One Million Pages!"   

The "Moonshot Moment" is our County's goal to have 90% of our children reading on grade level by the end of third grade!

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE - Two Easy Steps:

1.  Sign up at moonshotmoment.org/million

Join as an individual, or select that you are part of a Reading CREW.  (Prizes are awarded to individuals, regardless of their Crew.  You may only join one Crew.)

2.  Every time you read, log in to your account and add the number of pages read.  That's it!  

 WHY DO I CARE:

• Third grade reading is critical because you are first 'learning to read,' so that after third grade you may 'read to learn.' 
  
• Currently, about 44% of our kids are NOT reading proficiently by 3rd grade. 
  
• We know that Schools Can't Do It Alone, so we are encouraging Indian River County, Florida READERS of all ages to support the Moonshot Moment by logging the number of pages they read -- whether it is in a book, magazine, or an online site.
  
• You could win a prize!  Prizes will be randomly awarded each week to participating Readers who have read at least ten pages total, even if you sign up as an individual or as a member of our CREW.  
• Your account name will be displayed in an ad that we run at the end of the Campaign, and also on a banner that will be created to commemorate our County's literacy achievement!
